The American School of Durango endeavors to employ a dynamic, creative, constructivist, knowledgeable staff that engages students in the learning process. All staff bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, yet they must be able to work collaboratively and constantly seek opportunities to improve. To this end, the school will recruit, select, employ and retain the best-qualified personnel available to achieve our stated goals and objectives.


Teacher applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher), a valid teaching certificate, and license in the content area or General Education. Previous experience is a plus, but we will also consider new teachers who have energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion to embrace the teaching profession. New employees shall complete a full application for employment and submit along with the corresponding qualification documents; which include a resume, transcripts, degrees, and teaching certification.


Candidates must be prepared to undergo legally permissible background screening as part of the application process, including but not limited to criminal background and/or fingerprint checks, reference checks, etc.to be considered for a position in our school.


Teaching Responsibilities:

As a teacher at the American School of Durango you will be required to teach clear engaging lessons and provide high-standard instruction to students. In addition, you will lead a group of students for advisory and possibly offer electives to foster students’ social and emotional growth, as well as learning outside of the academic areas.


Primary Function:

The role of the ASD teacher is to foster student achievement via the curriculum, instruction, learning environment, and support as aligned with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of ASD. As a result of teacher instruction, students should love coming to school, be inspired to learn, and be motivated to become an excellent classmate and global citizen.
